MEASURING GUIDE
When taking your measurements always use a cloth measuring tape. If you do not have one, use a string and then measure on a yardstick. Remember to wear proper undergarments; if you wear a special support bra for riding, your measurements should be taken with that bra on. Also, make sure the tape measure is held snugly and firmly (not tightly) against your body and is always parallel to the floor for circumference measurements. It is best to have some one else measure you, especially for the pants or back of jacket measurements. It is also best to take the measurement sets twice.
MEASURING FOR JACKET/ SHIRT SIZE
BUST- Measure around the fullest part of bust and straight across back over the shoulder blades
WAIST- Measure at the smallest part of the natural waist, keeping the tape straight and level
HIP- Measure around the fullest part of the hips —usually 7-9” below waist the natural waist
SHOULDER – Measure from the backside, with arms down at sides. Measure from one point of shoulder to the other point of shoulder (widest part of the back at the shoulders) do not bend around the shoulders
BACK WAIST LENGTH - from the most prominent bone at base of neck to the natural waistline
HEM WAIST LENGTH - from the most prominent bone at base of neck to the where the hem line of desired jacket length would be
SLEEVE LENGTH - To take this measurement hold your upper arm straight down your side and bend your elbow at a 90 degree angle to the front of you with thumb up, as thought you were handling a horse in showmanship. Start measuring on the side of your arm at the point of the shoulder (this is where the sleeve and shoulder seams met) measure down to the bottom side of the elbow and continue measuring forward on the underside of your arm until the wrist bone. This will give you the length you need so the sleeves are not to short when your arms are up for showmanship and riding
MEASURING FOR SHOWMANSHIP PANTS
WAIST- Measure at the smallest part of the natural waist, keeping the tape straight and level
HIP- Measure around the fullest part of the hips —usually 7-9” below waist the natural waist
HIP AT CROTCH - Measure around your hip/buttocks area right at the crotch level
OUTSEAM – This is from the point of your hip at just under the belly button level to the floor (with your show boots on) running along the side of you leg. It is also helpful if you let me know what length jeans you usually wear.
INSEAM – From the center of your crotch to the floor (with show boots on) running along side of the leg
THIGH – Measurement around the thigh at the widest point
CUFF CIRCUMIFERENCE – measure around the lower leg with boots on or measure a pair of showmanship pants that you have and like the style leg flare on
CROTCH – Distance from the waist (where you would like the pant tops to be at your waist) to the center of crotch. Please do both sides:
1) From the back at the waistline over the buttocks to the center of crotch
2) Also, from the front, right below the belly button to the center of the crotch
